Today’s Thought: There can be no bystanders in the battle for survival. Anyone who will not fight by your side is an enemy you must crush.

Novus Log #2

We have arrived on Scintilla and quickly ran into troubles when in orbit while attempting to land withing Hive Sibellus. To the surprise of not only myself, but my companions, Sergeant Ferrus was able to bypass the bureaucratic wrangling. This was fortunate, as I had calculated out estimated waiting time to land to be nearly three weeks. Instead, we were permitted to land immediately.

We were greeted by the Lord Commander of the local PDF forces, who appeared to be an acquaintance of Sergeant Ferrus. I admittedly missed a fair portion of the conversation that then took place. The Lord Commander possessed a weapon of incredible workmanship. I estimated that it must have been handcrafted to an exacting degree and I was busy admiring the efforts of what must have been very talented Magi. I did, however, record the conversation for later perusal.

What brought me back to the topic at hand was the Sergeant giving away our Aquilla lander in exchange for the Lord Commander’s assistance. I would have liked to protest, but the deal was quickly done before I could interject. I registered my complaint with this arrangement and informed the Sergeant that he would need to explain to our superiors as to why the lander was no longer in our possession. The machine spirit of the lander was battered and old, but still strong.

We then made our way down to the lower levels of the Hive in the vehicle/habitation provided by the PDF. After switching gear to things more fitting for the area, we made our way to the local market. A merchant claimed to have a cache of technology claimed from an old Mechanicus outpost. I doubted this. But when the dealer claimed that he had a dataslate with STC information, I could not risk passing up the opportunity. After extensive bargaining and trading two grenades and some money, I was able to purchase the item. I have not yet had much time to peruse the contents, however.

My companions and I arrived shortly at a bar filled with hive scum and those that the scum fed on. I am unsure as to what precipitated the alteraction, but I was quickly alerted that our imposed companion Nihilus was in trouble by the sound of a gunshot. Events quickly took a turn for the worse. I am unsure why, but the bar was quickly filled with powerful winds. I was able to retain my footing. I was the only one to do so. I was greeted with cries accusing me of being a psyker and heretic. Inaccurate as that may be, there are about 50 of them and merely 1 of me.

I must now concentrate on my escape.

The Omnisiah and Emperor protect me.

End entry.

Novus Log #1

In light of recent events, I feel it is my duty as a Tech-Priest to record my thoughts and observations on this mission to which I have been assigned. It has been written elsewhere as to how we arrived on the Pax Calixis and I shall not repeat that information here. I fell ill due to a foul concoction known as Shadow Sloth, from the planet Dusk. Our sanctioned Psyker hails from this planet and suffered no ill effects, but two of us were not so lucky. I must, at some point, discuss with my brother Priests what sort of holy machinery I may petition to be planted within me to prevent such a a thing from happening again.

Upon the weakness of flesh passing from me, I attempted to meet up with Garm, Prolis, and Able as they had already begun an investigation into happenings upon the ship. As I was not present to observe these events myself, I will omit them from my record and instead refer any who read this to their logs and reports.

Shortly after linking up with my fellow Customs enforcers, there were a number of strange occurrences. I began to pick up odd distortions and static on several frequencies and Garm reported similar sensations in the Immaterium. In addition, I was picking up immense Geller field readings. Upon consulting my auspex among other things, we began to move towards the rear of the ship in search of whatever was causing these effects. The ship began accelerating alarmingly and it was often difficult to retain our footing as we moved faster than I have seen such a ship as this ever go.

Guided only by my auspex, my faith in the Omnisiah, and the strength of the God-Emperor, we descended into the jefferies tubes of the bowels of the ship in our search. After a problem overcoming the obstacle of a broken grating, we were confronted with a pair of doors that had shown recent use. Upon opening them, we were confronted and attacked many servitor drones. My previous experience in servicing, maintaining, and dealing with servitors was no help as they had obviously been corrupted by some foul energy.

After some struggle, we managed to destroy the corrupted things and end their torment. Not without casualties of our own. Garm and Able had been rendered unconscious, either by the efforts of the servitors or backlash of Warp energy. Our guide from the Pax Calixis gave his life in service to the Emperor and Omnisiah and I shall commend him for this.

We were quickly upon the renegade Mechanicus adept and I made my fury known at his blasphemies with a flurry of las fire. Guardsman Ferrus supplied the finishing blow, severing the foul HeriTech’s leg from his body and ending his schemes. Upon inspection, I discovered a xenos device attached to the ships power fields and after some further investigation, determined that the device was siphoning energy from the Immaterium and forcing it into the ships power systems. A nearby book and an ancient data slate provided the information I needed to disconnect the system, but in the end, I believe that my faith in the Omnisiah faltered just enough and although I was able to disconnect the system, the ship was brought to a complete stop and ejected from the Immaterium.

Although the device was xenos in origin, I also could not help but not the resemblance to a long lost and legendary STC device which would have served much the same function. I arranged to have the device brought to our quarters where I may study it before turning it over to those higher up. The Warnings say “The alien mechanism is a perversion of the True Path”, but do the Mysteries not say “Understanding is the True Path to Comprehension”? Can we not wrest knowledge from this xenos device that could help us find more of the Holy STC? The Magi may not entirely agree, which is why I had intended to make my own examination and prepare my own records.

However, I was not able to do much with the device before we were visited by the Lord Captain of the Pax Calixis. After reassuring him of our part in the earlier events, he ordered the device be removed to be examined by his own ship Tech-Priests. I cannot say as to their opinions as to such unorthodox research as mine, but I could not refuse the Lord Captain. I have retained a visual record of my initial examinations of the device which, Omnisiah willing, will be of use nevertheless.

The Lord Captain assigned one of his servants to assist us on an indefinite basis. This person did not make a good initial impression, but ultimately we decided it was unwise to fill a representative of the Lord Captain with las fire. Even if they would have earned such a fate by pulling a knife on our group.

Regardless, as we reached our destination, we once again dined with the Lord Captain and because of our extraordinary efforts to save the shift, we were presented with gifts. I was presented with a Guardian Servo Skull. Appropriately enough, it was made from the skull of the Tech Heretic we had killed. The others also received impressive gifts. I must ask both Ferrus and Able to examine the artifacts that they were given.

We are now off the ship and en route to our next destination. I must again concentrate on my piloting.

Praise the Omnisiah and may He guide my actions.

End Recording

Trouble on the Pax Calixis

Following the seizure of the Luna-class intersystem transport. The team from Adam 12 were released on a specific investigation. Apparently the crew of the luna transport were carrying a new, unknown narcotic that was highly addictive and was crewed from psyker brain matter amung other things. The Pax Calixis, a chartist system that plied the warp routes of the Calixis sector had transported the small ship to the Vaxanide system, was recalled to transport the team back to Scintilla, to follow up on a lead. The capital of the luna transport made reference to meeting with Lund in the Coscarla sector to pick up this cargo. So Adam 12 has been sent to investigate. The Calixis Customs wants to keep this under the radar until they know more about where this drug originated. The team was give a captured Aquilla lander, and have come aboard the Pax Calixis.

While on the Pax Calixis, the team has been given the rights to continue their investigation into the transport crew’s doings by the ship captian. Unfortunately during the feast, Novus and the Sgt tried some of the Dusk Shadow Sloth, and became ill. So the rest of the team began the investigation. They found that the transport crew was spending a lot of time in the Cirque de Carnel, the ships redlight district attempting to sell their cargo. Unfortunately this lead to several fights between the crew and the local narco gangers which lead to a death and the transport crew being placed under house arrest on their ship.

While interogating the narco-gangers, the team discovered that while the suspects were attempting to sell their cargo, their primary reason seemed to be to deliever a package to a ‘Xerkes,’ apparently a local heretek. While investigating this in Cirque de Carnel, it seemed that a growning level of warp energy within the area was interferring with the psyker, and when the tech-priest joined the group was reading massive geller field readings. So the team delved into what seemed to be ‘Xerkes’ high-out to confront him and attempt to stop whatever it is he is attempting to accomplish.

First search and seizure

The team was dispatched to board a suspicous ship in orbit of Vaxanide 7, a jovian gas giant. The ship was a Luna-class system transport ship that is used to haul cargo between warp-capable starships and other planets in the system. The ship was refusing to answer hails, and astropathic transmissions. Our heros, team adam 12, and Baker 5, a small more experienced team were sent over to the ship for inspection. After a short fly-by the team in the Arvus Lighter were allowed to dock. And the inspection was underway, but what happened next is up to the survivors to tell you.

STOP CALIXIS CUSTOMS!

This is the cry that you have issued several times in training. Now it is time to step out into the sector and help ride the Imperium of the crimial smuggling scum, raiding xenos, and deadly pirates that ply the warp routes and black of space.

When Lord Sector Hax took control of the Calixis Sector 150 standard Terran years ago, he discovered that the graft and corruption was running rampant within the government of his new sector. After 5 years of executions and banishments, Lord Hax was able to clean up a large percentage of the offenders. Part of this was by creating the Chaliced Commissariat.

He also say the efficiency of the Void Commercia, and its Custodius Commercia Calixis, or the Calixis Customs Enforcement, lanquishing. It had become a dumping ground for the dregs of the PDF and the various sector law enforcement agencies. He reinvegorated their numbers and their budget and expanded its operation. This organizations was tasked to bring Chartist ships back into the fold of the Calixis taxation system. They were given the authority to board any charstist ship within Calixis space to inspect for contraband, and ensure that the correct taxitation was paid to the Lord Sector’s coffers.

Since the inception of the Custodius Commercia Calixis, it has had a notable success of imposing Lord Calixis’ rule on to the Chartist community. In addition, it has evolved into a ready made strike force at his finger tips, and the Chaliced Commissart has used the Customs Enforcement Teams in a number of various military operations to enforce Lord Hax will. This has often put the CCE at odds with the Planetary Defence Forces, Battlefleet Calixis, and the Imperial Guard regiments operating within the sector. They all realize that the CCE is an established part of the sector, and often the CCE fleet and Battlefleet Calixis operate jointly.

The Lathe class customs enforcement corvettes of the Custodius Commercia Calixis provide a powerful weapon against the various pirates and smugglers that operate within the sector. The fleet currently is comprised of 200 ships, broken down into 8 sub-fleets, one for each subsector. However, 3 ships are currently on ‘loan’ to the Calixis Conclave of the Emperor’s Holy Inquisition.
